As a professional side hustler, AKA entrepreneur, one of the earliest lessons I learned from the whole entrepreneurial mindset is to always be solving problems. Many online businesses nowadays were started based on a solution to a problem.
Problems are all around us every day. I’m a Problem Solver. That means I’m constantly looking for solutions to the problems I notice. Ideas just pop into my head while I’m going about my day-to-day life.
Here’s an example: I own a business called Voit Express, an on-demand courier service that delivers packages within a two-hour window. Voit Express came from a problem I noticed one day at home.
My wife loves Lularoe, a popular multi-level marketing clothing company for women. One Saturday night, I overheard her and her friends talking about how they wish they could get their LulaRoe packages delivered sooner. “I wish I could have that dress tomorrow night for my dinner party,” one woman said.
So I got to thinking: what if there was an Uber-like delivery service to make it possible for Lularoe consultants to deliver their packages to their customers right away instead of in seven days. I started Voit to meet those needs.
To find ideas, look around yourself. Examine your daily life and your hobbies. Keep yourself open to ideas while consuming podcasts and books. When reading an influencer’s book or watching a YouTube video, most entrepreneurs don’t think, “Okay, they’re giving me this information. How can I turn it into an idea?”
It’s crucial to write down your ideas, even if you think they’re dumb. Who knows, a “dumb” idea might spark a better idea.
This may sound cliché, but it’s important to keep a mindset of gratitude. Be grateful for the ideas that you stumble across in your life. In the book The Secret, Rhonda Byrne talks about carrying a Gratitude Rock. Since reading that life-changing book, I always carry my Gratitude Rock with me. By doing this, I’m communicating with the universe that I’m grateful for the business ideas, I’m getting. I’m grateful for my family and friends. Because of this show of gratitude, more ideas are coming to me from the universe.
I’m grateful for all this I love ideas come to me and then I see now they’re coming to me and so next time you’re asking yourself you know you’re thinking about where do ideas come from just look in your daily life you’ll find a lot of business ideas coming from solutions to problems that you see in everyday life song.
